Victory Day Fireworks

Last Friday, on Victory Day, we went to Darbar's for dinner. They have the best Indian food in Moscow and we've been fans since living here in 1999. They moved from the first floor of the Sputnik Hotel (Leningradsky Prospect) and are now on the top floor--with spectacular views of the city below.

In this video, you see the main view of these sites are in southwest Moscow: the University of Moscow, Sparrow Hills, Victory Park in the distance, the Luzhniki arena, the Moscow-City office complex.

We chose to bring the kids so we could all watch the fireworks that night. Natalia was anxious for the show to start, and she kept waving her magic wand (from Katya's Harry Potter chess magazine) at the sky to try to hurry things along.

While we waited, we enjoyed a great meal. We highly recommend the restaurant! Their business lunch is a great deal, too.

We had a superb view of the show at the University, and we could also see the show over at Victory Park. If you really looked, you could also see three other shows going on simultaneously at different locations throughout the city.

The sound of everyone watching the fireworks made me smile. That must have been LATE! I seem to recall that when we were in Moscow in May it didn't get dark until after 10 p.m.!

Natalia does have her own style with headbands.

Can you accidentally hide the headbands?

Quite the view from the restaurant for seeing all the fireworks from Victory Day. The girls must have enjoyed themselves (and being out late).

Wow! What a gorgeous sunset and the fireworks are amazing! I let Em watch them this morning - she misses Katya and Talia and is excited to see them in Colorado :)

miss you!
