Puh-leez! My Pet Peeve...

Am I on the only person out there who absolutely cannot stand visible bra straps?! Everyday mishaps can happen... Everyone can be guilty of it at some time... But on an expensive advertising campaign (for an insurance company)? Come on! Ever heard of PHOTO SHOP, people?!

Some Russians seem to think that bras are intended to be seen... It's quite common for women to wear black or brightly colored ones under  transparent shirts, even to work, even when teaching high school boys (haven't seen anyone doing that where I'm working now, though)!

I totally agree with you! But it's not just in Russia- it seems to be happening everywhere. When I see one I hear my mother's voice in my head telling me to hide it- and quick!

Lydia would fit in rather well there, then. With the young girls it seems to be "the thing" to let underwear show. Just another part of the "layered look". However, it seems "better" (if such a thing can be said) when it is really OBVIOUSLY on purpose. In this billboard, as on many real-life people, it looks like a wardrobe malfunction and that IS really Yucky.

I agree 100%, that is a major pet-peeve of my own. I hate it when people wear racerback shirts or spaghetti strap tanks with their regular bra straps showing!

A few of my girls' baby house caregivers wore nothing but bras & unders underneath their lab coats, which typically had a couple of missing buttons. I thought it was tasteless, but most likely comfortable and probably very sensible (less to change in case of accident). My husband on the other hand thought it was brilliant. ;)

As far as the billboard and people actually walking around like that --- Ewwww.

It seems to be an epidemic in Ukraine as well. But I agree- it seems particularly out of place in an ad- especially since the woman's outfit isn't typical of the stereotypical offender.

How interesting. It seems to be very popular in the US about a year or two ago. It involved not only the bra straps but also a large portion of ones belly, preferably squeezed out by both the pants and the shirt. I am not sure if the fashion is over or I just got so used to it that I pay no attention to it anymore. I will try to take a closer look at few young ladies we have at work tomorrow.
