That Time Again: The Good and the Bad

Yes, it's very pretty!

Until it melts moments later.

You can't tell from this picture, but all the puddles are brown. Melted, dirty snow... Yuck. Now begins the ritual of using stain remover every night to remove the kicked-up drops of brown "slyakat" (melted, oily, polluted snow) that adorn the back of our stockings and pants...

It is really, really good you added that final comment and picture to bring me back to reality. I'm sitting here in my stuffy study trying to hammer out worksheets and would much rather be under the cool living room fan -- and that lacy snow was so beautiful and so refreshing looking. It's not really *that* hot here but a person adjusts to the temperature and it feels hot.

Good luck with your stain removal!

I had that in mind when boot shopping this fall for my upcoming trip. I hope there's a lot of snow when I come so we can go to the country for a troika ride.

Oh, but it is pretty! Even the puddle picture is COOL. I guess it's "prettier" from afar though. :)

This is totally off topic but I'm new to your blog and when I was reading old posts I saw that you like Golden Rec center! Next time you come to CO try out Apex rec center in Arvada it's way better! Your kids would also LOVE a place in Centennial/Littleton called Jungle Quest it has rope swings, climbing walls and zip lines. I work with a daycare here so I know all the fun places. If you want more ideas just ask and I will give you my e-mail!

I've already had my first experience with slykat. The first day I was in Moscow I wore my longer, warmer jeans. I was halfway to the metro when I realized what a bad idea that was!
Great blog, by the way - I've been reading it for a while now.
