Enrage-A-Lot... Part 4...

So I was finally given the direct line to an agent in New York...

Who can't take a payment over the phone.

He has to send me a form that I have to print out and fax back. We don't have a fax. And I'm not about to waste more time today going to Staples...

He conceded that I could get it in tomorrow. Then I have to call back and finalize the whole procedure.

What a bureaucratic mess to simply change a travel date.

I find it very hard to believe that these are the procedures for having to alter your ticket... Who would put up with this??! I really can't understand why Westerners would EVER use this airline with it's arcane practices!

Stupid idiots!!!!!!

Never, never fly this airline and once you are home, make sure you publish their name so all the expats you know that read your blog read this.

I pray you get the details worked out. So sorry you are having such a terrible time with this problem.

I rarely comment-has been a while, but I do enjoy reading about your life.

God bless and take care.

Wow, what a mess. Hope you make it home smoothly on your travel date!

Do you have any travel agent friends who can help you out?

I am russian and I swore off flying Aeroflot after they canceled a direct flight that was supposed to take my 14 year old nephew back to Moscow, replaced it with a connection flight through New York, and then refused to take my nephew on that flight because he's underage and they could only fly him on a direct flight. They explained that it was now my problem, and not theirs, despite the fact that we had a ticket for a direct flight that THEY canceled 24 hours before. Mind you, after we found out that the flight was canceled the night before I called an Aeroflot office phone number that I found online to make sure there wouldn't be any issues. It turned out to be their Seattle office and the agend assured me that all will be well. The "customer service" agent at the airport, however, told me that I shoudn't have called the Seattle office, that I should've called the DC office instead, was completely unapologetic and rude, said that they can't take the kid and simply suggested driving him to New York (a 5 hour trip) and then putting him a on a direct flight there. It's been over 5 years now, and I have never used Aeroflot since, despite the fact that their prices are often cheaper than Delta and other airlines. Reading your account of the situation just makes my blood boil.

Yeah, they are a HORRIBLE pain in the kiester when you have to change plans . . . even when it's THEIR fault. We had to fight them after our ticket agent spent several HOURS on the phone with them when we were doing our Dd's adoption. And the crazy thing?? It was their fault! They stopped all flights into Washington-Dulles AFTER we flew out of the USA to Russia. It was a temp. thing, but meant we had no way to get home. The agent tried to get them to re-route us back home via JFK. Nope, no can do. We finally had to go to their office in Moscow in person to "fight". And don't even start me on their in-Russia flights . . . PHEW! But . . . you do what you gotta do . . . and for us, that was *THAT* airline. They need someone to fly with them who can write a song like "United Breaks Guitars" (look it up on Youtube if you don't know what I am talking about.)

I think many westerners use them through an agent, and the agent helps with changes...Yuck none the less...
